Hi there people…..Just thought I'd let ou know that being one of the senior techs in dealing with scanjets/digital senders at HP, you need to preset the scanner buttons in solution center 11.0 software button settings before you can start using the scanner buttons.

Oh I forgot to mention. When installing this scanner on a Vista OS….be sure to disable your UAC, windows firewall and any antivirus software before installing and then re-enable after installation has finished. (less headaches) For a simple scanner it's pretty good, and the software is much better on this scanner than the older G4000 series scanners.

One question, could you scan 120mm negatives? or 35mm negatives with the sprocket holes ??

I had one. What can I say is it's awesome for scanning documents. But I dislike the way the image of negatives films that appear. There are too much noise.
Only one problem with this instructional video. How do I scan older negatives that are larger than the film strip supplied by the scanner?
If you are buying it for scanning your slides or negatives, please don't buy it. Bought it yesterday and I'm returning it. Does horrible negative scans which are not at all usable. Hp has never made any good negative scanners !! Buy an epson or a canoscan !!

HP should not be allowed to sell scanners. I have one, and it just constantly fails. The thing is, they know there's not that much money to be made in the sale or scanners etc. However, there's a lot to be made in premium rate phone charges when you phone to try and get your problem solved. Quite a co-incidence, that! These bastards should be investigated.
I bought this for the slide scanning feature since I have hundreds of slides, mostly from when I was in the Army and stationed in Europe.
Two gripes. No manual. I had to go on line and print out 30 pages.
Gripe number two. I connected to my Toshiba lap top, installed the software, and the message (in computer speak) basically stated a problem. I took all to the local computer shop and, for $75, connection was made. The computer wiz reviewed a number of steps he had to do in order to make the connection.
All of that scanner crap and we don't even know how fast it scans…what if you have pile loads
Does this scanjet work with Windows 7 pro? I installed from disc and from HP online drivers. Not there yet.
