What is the Sutta is it where buddha tells this 4 ways of letting go? they are very profound and thank you Ajahn Brahm for detailing them out

    2. Aaron Daciuk says:

I’ve listen to Ajahn Braham and the like for the last few years. It’s very slowly seeping in. I am hopeful for a time where I can truly leave my past in the past. Thank you 🙏🏼

    3. Lolitalolipops says:

I love the story about luo tzu. Osho also recited that story and I think of it often- actually thought about it today on a walk in a beautiful setting people walking in pairs and groups non stop chatting , I though how awful they can’t even enjoy the peace and walk in silence .. why walk at all .. and this afternoon I heard the story here just now .. letting go is the hardest thing for any human and it’s what can bring the most peace .. sometimes I ask myself if that’s really what I want or to be right and carry the backpack ( canoe as Osho says ) on my head ..

    4. Fujairah T says:

Most amazing talk Ajarn Brahm. I spent 15 years in Thailand and have very much been influenced by the Buddhist tradition and of course Ajarn Chai.

    5. Jodi Parry says:

This changed my life a few years ago. I believe it was the beginning of my awakening. I have come so far since I watched this. I am truly grateful for it. I thankyou.

    6. Great Gyatso says:

Whenever you find yourself ruminating on thoughts you can’t let go of:

Imagine the thought as a heavy rock in the backpack you’re wearing. You are by a nearby creek that is running with the sound of rushing water. Approach the creek slowly, and pull the heavy rock out of your bag- let yourself feel the weight. It’s heavy enough that you have to strain yourself a bit to heft it out of the bag. On the rock is etched the name of whatever or whoever is troubling you. As you hold the rock over the creek, say “I see you, I hear you, I release you.” Imagine dropping that heavy stone into the creek with a satisfying splash. And then observe as the stone sinks to the bottom, without a trace. Your pack feels so light now, and the day is so beautiful.

    7. Bazingahh says:

My shits a magnetic boomerang. As soon as I let it go it comes right back with a force. I guess my point is you can't let go of something that is attached to you.

    8. bas says:

It's funny how so many people have a false concept of what freedom really means. In the past I too had a very flawed idea what it means to be free. Buddhism taught me what true freedom really is. Freedom means not to be so attached. To be content with what you have. To not limit your growth by destructive self beliefs. To know that healing from all kinds of diseases is possible yet at the same time knowing that that too is impermsnent.

My life really started changing for me when I took on a confident, yet non-striving, compassionate attitude.

Being free means to be comfortable with discomfort.

Being free means knowing that absolutely everything is flowing and impermanent. Sickness and disease will pass. But so will health. Everything is constantly changing. If you cling to any of it or try to change it, you suffer.

Ultimately, life is just one day. We should live according to that.

Yes – you can transform yourself, your body. You can achieve great things by visualizing success – just know: this too will pass.

If you don't want to be a victim, create that unshakable peace within. Don't be better or worse than anybody else. Yet at the same time know that you are as solid as a tree.

If you want to be free, stop identifying with the body. See it for what it is: it's dirty, it gets sick and at some point it disintegrates.

With my new view on freedom I see so much suffering in the world. So man, people have this tendency to strive. To win. Always more. But what for? I believe we will reach a point in mankind where we have to change our way of thinking. Else we will destroy ourselves.

I am not saying not to have any goals. Just see a goal for what it really is: it is a pointer. Gives you direction and purpose. Not more. Be happy now..be free!
